Youth Alumni Reception Honors Youth Participants
November 18, 2011
Youth Alumni between the ages of 18-35 attended a reception at the U.S. Embassy’s "Casa Grande" on November 18, 2011. The reception honoring Youth Alumni from U.S. government sponsored programs included welcome remarks by the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Robert Richard Downes, and the presentation of certificates or recognition to the 30 newest Alumni in 2011. Five Alumni talked briefly about current projects on which they are working: Youth Ambassadors Alumni Nohelia Trujillo, Lilliam Perez and Emmanuel Melendez; UGRAD Alumni Rubi Amador; and SUSI Young Leader Edwin Aguirre. In addition to informing those gathered about their projects, the presentations also motivated them to sign up for the various community and social projects. Make sure you watch the video for the Lemon Tree Project below.
The more than 100 Youth Alumni in attendance represented several U.S. government scholarship programs such as College Horizons, English Access Microscholarship Program, Youth Ambassadors, the Undergraduate Intensive English Program, SUSI for Young Leaders, Global Undergraduate Exchange Program and Community Colleges Initiatives Program.
