HUMAN SWINE INFLUENZA AND CHANGE IN NICARAGUAN TELEPHONE NUMBERS

This warden message is being issued to alert U.S. citizens residing and traveling in Nicaragua that no cases of Human Swine Influenza have been confirmed in Nicaragua.  The Nicaraguan Government has positioned health care specialists at all major ports of entry to evaluate persons entering Nicaragua for flu-like symptoms, especially those coming from Mexico and the United States.  Nicaragua’s Ministry of Health (MINSA) has alerted health units to report all potential cases of swine influenza to their Epidemiology Crisis Center, Tel 011-505-2289-4312.

Please note that as of April 22, 2009, all Nicaraguan telephone numbers have changed.  You must now affix a "2" to the beginning of all landline phone numbers and an "8" to the beginning of all cell phone numbers.
